MangaShelf

MangaShelf is a personal manga library and recommendation platform. You can browse thousands of manga titles, track your reading progress, rate titles, and receive personalized recommendations based on your taste.

Recommendations are powered by a TF-IDF + Cosine Similarity model running on a Python FastAPI microservice. Your reading history and ratings are used to build a preference profile, which is then matched against manga metadata (synopsis, genres, tags, demographic) to surface the most relevant titles.

The For You page shows personalized recommendation rows such as "Because you read X" — item-based suggestions from a specific manga you've tracked — and genre-based picks. The more you rate and track, the more accurate your feed becomes.

Rate the titles you've read on a scale of 1–10. Ratings of ★8 and above are treated as strong preference signals. Adding more manga to your library and updating chapter progress also helps the engine refine your taste profile.

You can mark each title as Reading, Completed, Plan to Read, or Dropped. You can also log your current chapter progress and add a personal rating at any time from your Library page.

Manga metadata — titles, synopsis, genres, tags, cover images, and community scores — is sourced from AniList via the GraphQL API and cached locally for fast, reliable access.

Manga tagged with mature content (ecchi, erotica, etc.) are automatically blurred by default across Browse, Library, and Home. You can reveal the cover at any time by clicking the eye icon on the card. This applies per-session.
